These two images were taken on a winter 2003 visit to New York. Manhattan between Christmas and New Year's was a beautiful place. The mood was calm, with fewer people on the streets. The crisp winter air made long walks invigorating. On December 29th, 2003, I explored much of lower Manhattan on foot with some friends. We visited the memorial site for the fallen World Trade Towers on the lower West side, and walked east across the Brooklyn Bridge to Brooklyn Heights to catch the sunset.
